In Bymarka as well as in Mostadmarka, Jonsvannsmarka and Malvikmarka, there are criss-crossing paths and ski runs, groomed ski runs in winter and well-marked hiking routes in summer. Pilgrimage routes come from all directions and point to Nidaros Cathedral. Well marked on the map are among others. also bathing areas, universal design recreation areas and popular summit hikes and viewpoints.

The map of Trondheim and Malvikmarka was published by Calazo förlag, following the contributions of the central players in tourism and outdoor recreation in the region. This is part of a series of modern maps where terrain information is based on laser scanning from an aircraft, resulting in a wealth of detail with an almost three-dimensional feel. The map includes all marked hiking routes, ski trails, swimming areas and kayak rentals throughout the coverage area and is intended for year-round use.
