What if we went as a family to explore some sites in the Somme department!
First, discover the famous Bay and the maritime Picardy, so varied. On the menu, from the Bresle valley to Authie Bay: cliffs, dune massifs, estuarine environments and long wild beaches of fine sand. We can then go up the course of the wandering river. The valley has many surprises in store, with its expanses of water, dotted with channels, marshes and ponds. Further upstream, where the Somme gently meanders, we can enjoy the belvederes which offer breathtaking views of a secret, interiorized country. A territory also which has some unusual discoveries, such as the underground city at Naours, north of Amiens, a refuge village set up by the population in a chalk quarry, to protect themselves from the soldiery horde. A country too, strongly imbued with History and scarred by the conflicts of 1914 1918, which still reveals, as we go, the scars of the Great War. Furthermore, to enrich and complete the walks, this guide suggests some fun, sporting or cultural activities.
